For prolonged-treatment tapers: The cross-tapers shown here use linear percentage steps over 2–4 weeks — the traditional approach in published guidelines. For patients on antidepressants for >6–12 months, slower “hyperbolic” tapers based on receptor-occupancy curves (Horowitz MA, Taylor D. Lancet Psychiatry 2019;6:538-546, PMID 30850328) may reduce withdrawal symptoms. Royal College of Psychiatrists tapering guidance (2020) and Davies & Read 2019 (PMID 30292574) provide further context on antidepressant withdrawal severity and incidence.
